I was forced to reinstall SQL Server due to a fault in the Full Text Engine.
I removed everything and got the message:
"A component that you have specified in the ADD_LOCAL property is already
installed. To upgrade the existing component, refer to the template.ini and
set the UPGRADE property to the name of the component."
when it reached the last section, Workstation Components.
In the installation report below (reduced for lack of space) you can find
the line:

yeah I've had a heck of a time with the SQL installer also
I just think that MS should stop trying to force a new version down our
throaats every 2 years-- and start taking usability seriously
SERIOUSLY
How many times do ou guys get prompted for missing Office components?
Doesn't it still happen in Office 2007?
I call for Ballmer to be fired and Ralph Nader to take over; MS doesn't give
a crap about customers and Nader is the only person that can save MS
