Registering SQL 2005 Server Evaluation

I am looking to install and configure the SQL 2005 Evaluation. Once this is installed, can it be registered to remove the evals 180 day limit?

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Andr Brisebois

Andre,

When you're ready to move off of the Evaluation Edition you will need to upgrade to a full edition of SQL Server 2005. The supported upgrades is documented here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143393.aspx. Evaluation edition can be upgrade to:

SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition
SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition
SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition
SQL Server 2005 Express Edition

You'll need to perform the upgrade prior to the 180-day expiration. The upgrade process must be able to start the SQL service. Once you pass the 180-day mark the service will not start. There is still a way to upgrade post 180 days but it is much more involved.

Cheers,
Dan
